Along with our goats we also have free range chickens and ducks, both Buff Orpington. Our ducks wander as ducks do and it feels like Easter most days, as I search for their eggs that they love to bury and hide. Once their hiding spot is found, they find another! I also have a feeling I have a hen setting on some eggs. I finally found her and her hiding place in one of the barns. This 2015 spring has 6 baby chicks following their mother around!

Our Goats
Our goats are such a fun source of enjoyment! Our journey into goats began quite a few years ago, when Bill brought home two pygmy goats to tend the grass and weeds in our shelter belt. No tending took place, and the caraganas bushes were naked half way up. We were given a fainting goat we named Zoey and in the fall of 2014, we brought home 2 milking goats and a buck. I so throughly enjoyed my time milking and my family enjoyed the delicious milk, cheese, yogurt and whey. We were excited to introduce our first Mini-Nubian kids in the spring of 2015.

"Ancient Way Kira", Kira for short, is a beautiful Nubian, a very good milker and of course a sweetheart! She is a three year old this year and she had 2 kids on April 25: a doeling and buckling! We have had her for one milking season and look forward to the fresh milk this next year!

"Little Mountain's Ruthie" or Ruthie, is a 2 year old Mini-Nubian. She is an absolute sweetheart, a good milker and just had 2 doelings on Easter, 2015. We are so excited to start milking her in June.

Kira and Ruthie are producing 2 gallons a day for our family. We have been enjoying yogurt, fresh milk, and I recently made my first goat milk cheddar cheese. In a month we will see how it has cheddared and turned out! We also found a recipe for goat milk ice cream--soon, we will be cooling our tummies during the peak of summer.
"Little Mountain's Prince Corin", our buck Corin, is well, a typical buck. He is a friendly chap and yes, he does his fair share of stinking. He is the proud father of our kids of 2015.
